Mick Warning. He was the manager who hired me at Vision Control and Automation. Mick encouraged ideas and outside the box thinking. He offered help when needed and let me struggle when needed.
What is your favorite part of working at Standard Electric? Why?
My best days are when I can help someone overcome an obstacle. I get the opportunity to work with so many people each day. I learn from each person and use that knowledge to help others.
What led you to this career?
My dad was an Electrical Engineer. He brought home futuristic things like portable PCs for his work. The 35 lb. predecessor to a laptop. I always wanted to know how everything worked. This carried over to my education and career.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Milwaukee Brewer.
What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity? Why?
Hiking with a good partner. Especially for long distances over multiple days. This gives me a lot of time to clear my head and return to my everyday life recharged.
What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?
I was backpacking for 5-6 days in the Sierra Nevada. After only eating freeze-dried meals and trail mix the whole time, I reached the end of the trail and there was an outdoor patio serving pizza. Not sure how good the pizza really was, but that day it was perfect.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Tell nobody. Except my wife.
What’s one thing you can’t live without? Why?
Family. They remind me what is important in my life.
If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?
Long and happy lives for my family and friends, a Brewers World Series, a 2nd Brewers World Series.
Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
I can hear in the dark.
What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen/traveled to?
I have been lucky enough to see a lot of great places. The one place that sticks out is Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan. I go back country skiing there along Lake Superior, often miles from anyone else.
