Meet… Kris Zeise! Kris is an Application Engineer with Vision Control & Automation. He works out of our Milwaukee location. Get to know Kris!

What is your role and what do you specialize in?

I am an Application Engineer for Vision Control and Automation. Before working here, I was an Automation Engineer, so I learned a lot about PLCs, automation, and robotics during my time in that role.

How did you become interested in Engineering?

I was interested in how things worked, so I took engineering courses in high school and found my passion in the field.

What attracted you to this industry?

I liked working in the automation field, providing solutions that would improve processes. In this role I am still able to do that, working with customers to offer the best solution for their problem.

What traits do you have that help you succeed in your role?

I believe the combination of technical and communication skills helps me to provide the best service for our customers.

When you’re working with clients, how do you help them identify and solve the problems that they’re facing?

I like to ask them a lot of questions upfront so that there is no confusion. It helps to also keep that level of communication throughout the whole interaction, so we find the best solution for their needs.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned while working for the Standard Electric family of companies?

I have learned that there are a lot of resources available when a problem arises. We have a lot of engineers with many years of experience in the field, so there is always someone with answers to a problem.

What kinds of things do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy playing and watching sports. This summer I started to learn how to golf which has been difficult! I also have been learning to snowboard as of last winter.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I hope to visit all the national parks someday, currently I have been to eleven of the sixty-three national parks.
