Meet… Joanne Moss! Joanne is the Director of Marketing for Standard Electric. She works out of our Milwaukee, WI location. Get to know Joanne!
What interests or hobbies do you have outside of work?
I really enjoy camping. I used to tent camp all the time with my children. I want to buy an RV so that I can continue to do so but in a bit more comfort. I also love to read, crochet, play cards, and board games.
Who inspires you?
My family inspires me. My father was an immigrant with very little formal education yet accomplished so much as an entrepreneur. He taught us what hard work meant and the importance of communication and education. My sister is the best mother I know. And because of the influence of my grandmother, we are all God-minded people. I am blessed to have been born into my family.
What is the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen/traveled to?
Yosemite National Park. It’s my all-time favorite spot in the world. I honeymooned there and used to visit every year when I lived in California.
What is your personal philosophy and how has it guided you?
I think I have a few. Work heartily unto the Lord, give everyone the benefit of the doubt – most people are trying their best, don’t sweat the small stuff, treat people the way you want to be treated, take the higher road, Life is an occasion, rise to it.
What is the one thing, you can’t live without?
My husband and children. My faith and relationship with God. Potatoes in any variation. Books.
What is your favorite part of working at Standard Electric?
I really appreciate how transparent Larry is with our financials. That is rare in my experience in a privately owned company. I appreciate that we have ways to enhance and improve our processes and culture through Qiips and OFI’s. And we can be rewarded for that. I appreciate that there is an open-door policy and that you can approach managers if you have questions, concerns or ideas. And I really appreciate our leadership. They are good people.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I thought about becoming a nun during college, I actually went to some exploratory retreats with the Maryknoll Sisters and others.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
- Buy a house for all my children
- Buy an RV
- Invest the rest
If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?
I would wish for everyone in the world to have access to education, healthcare and to live in safety and without war.
